Hong Kong Car Northbound

Application conditions:

  1. Hong Kong Identity Card

  2. Home Return Permit

  3. Hong Kong Vehicle Registration Documents

  4. Hong Kong Vehicle Examination Certificate (applicable to vehicles registered for more than 6 years)

Documents required for applying as a vehicle owner:

  1. Hong Kong Identity Card

  2. Home Return Permit

  3. Hong Kong Vehicle Registration Documents

  4. Hong Kong Vehicle Examination Certificate (applicable to vehicles registered for more than 6 years)

  5. Hong Kong Driving License

  6. Mainland Driving License

  7. Mainland Phone Number

Vehicle Application Requirements:

  1. Private car under personal name

  2. 8 seats (including driver) or less

  3. Vehicle length not exceeding 6 meters

  4. Hold a valid vehicle license

Processing Procedures (full agency service)

1. Register for computer lottery.

2. Submit your application online o be review by both Governments after winning the lottery.

3. Install vehicle RFID card reader and vehicle inspection.

4. Purchase compulsory traffic insurance.

5. Upload documents and information to get approval from the Mainland Government.

6. Upon receiving approval, will proceed to book for departure date.

Time Required:

After winning the lottery, you need to submit the documents within 72 hours. The entire application process is expected to take 20-30 working days.

Total Fees for "Hong Kong Car Northbound" Application:

HK$2,300

If you apply for a Mainland driving license at the same time, you can get a $100 discount.
